How Pay As You Go Usage Works

Learn how Pay-As-You-Go usage works, including how usage is calculated, when you’re charged, and what to expect from your billing.

Pay As You Go allows your Skippz account to continue using bandwidth after you have used the amount included with your subscription.

For Skippz, Pay As You Go is primarily used for additional bandwidth. Storage works differently and is handled through Storage Add-ons.

How Pay As You Go works

Your subscription includes a specific amount of bandwidth for each billing period.

For example:

Your plan includes 200 GB of bandwidth. You use the full 200 GB during the billing period and your viewers continue watching your videos. The additional bandwidth is charged through Pay As You Go.

You do not need to upgrade your subscription just because your bandwidth usage temporarily exceeds your included amount.

When does Pay As You Go start?

Pay As You Go starts when your included bandwidth has been fully used and additional bandwidth is required.

For example:

  1. Your plan includes 200 GB of bandwidth.

  2. You use 150 GB.

  3. You still have 50 GB of included bandwidth remaining.

  4. You continue receiving video traffic.

  5. Your usage reaches 200 GB.

  6. Additional video traffic now uses Pay As You Go bandwidth.

As long as Pay As You Go is enabled and your Wallet has sufficient funds, eligible video traffic can continue.

How are Pay As You Go charges paid?

Additional bandwidth charges are deducted from your Skippz Wallet.

Your Wallet is separate from your subscription payment.

You can add funds to your Wallet before or during your usage period, and Pay As You Go charges are deducted from the available balance when additional bandwidth is used.

See Understanding Your Billing & Usage and Understanding Your Usage Dashboard to monitor your usage and charges.

How is additional bandwidth calculated?

Additional bandwidth is charged according to the Pay As You Go bandwidth rate for your subscription.

For example, if your in professional plan and plan's additional bandwidth rate is $0.035 per GB and you use 10 GB beyond your included bandwidth:

10 GB × $0.035 = $0.35

The actual rate depends on your subscription plan .

See How Additional Bandwidth Is Calculated and Billed for more information.

What happens when my Wallet reaches $0?

If your included bandwidth has already been used and your Wallet has no available funds, Skippz cannot deduct the additional bandwidth charges from your Wallet.

As a result, videos that require additional bandwidth may no longer play or be delivered to viewers.

Your other Skippz functionality remains available.

Adding funds to your Wallet allows eligible additional bandwidth usage to continue.

What if I still have included bandwidth?

If you still have included bandwidth available, an empty Wallet does not affect your included bandwidth usage.

For example:

You have 200 GB of included bandwidth remaining and $0 in your Wallet. Your viewers can continue using the included bandwidth. Pay As You Go is only needed after the included bandwidth has been exhausted.

Does Pay As You Go apply to storage?

No. Storage does not use your Wallet for overages.

When your stored videos exceed the storage included with your subscription, the excess storage is handled through a Storage Add-on and billed through your subscription billing.

For example:

  • Your plan includes 100 GB of storage.

  • You store 120 GB of videos.

  • The additional 20 GB is handled as a Storage Add-on.

  • The storage charge is added to your subscription billing.

See How Additional Storage Is Calculated and Billed for more information.
